Evaluation of Technical Standards of Selected Physical Soil and Water Conservation Practices and Community Participation in Layguder Watershed, Northwest Ethiopia

by Amare Gojjam Geremew , Getachew Fisseha, Mamaru Atenafu,

Journal of Research in Agriculture and Food Sciences. 2024; 1 (3): 121-133 - https://dx.doi.org/10.5455/JRAFS.20240531010605

ABSTRACT: Abstract This study has been conducted to evaluate technical standards of selected physical soil and water conservation practices (SWC) and to asses:- community participation in the Layguder watershed. The study was conducted using field measurements, group discussion and (Fifty-seven) household survey. Measurements were taken from these soil bunds, trenches, cut-off drains and waterways from three separate slope classes (3-8% lower, 8-15% middle, and 15-30% upper slope). The recommended value was analyzed using t-test statistics (p<0.05). The household survey data was analyzed by descriptive statistics using the basic Statistical Package for Social [...]   Read more

by Mostafa Essam Eissa

Journal of Medical Research and Reviews. 2024; 3 (1): 6-16 - https://dx.doi.org/10.5455/JMRR.20240816123355

ABSTRACT: This scientific article highlights ten uncommon endocrine and metabolic disorders, including Whipple's disease, Pediatric Acute-onset Neuropsychiatric Syndrome (PANDAS)/Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorders Associated with Streptococcal Infections (PANS), Mevalonic Aciduria Spectrum Disorders (MASDs), McCune-Albright Syndrome (MAS), Carney Triad, Fabkin Deficiency, Nesfatin-1-like Peptide (NLP), Bile Acid Malabsorption (BAM), Immune Checkpoint Inhibitors (ICIs) and Congenital Hepatic Fibrosis (CHF). These conditions present diverse symptoms, from gastrointestinal issues to neurological problems and endocrine dysfunction. While research has advanced our understanding of these disorders, many aspects remain enigmatic. Studying these rare conditions offers potential insights into common [...]   Read more

ABSTRACT: Background The noma disease survivors present with varying degrees of facial deformities that makes it harder for them to form relationship with friends, peers, and teachers. This study aimed to present the analysis of education challenges faced by Noma survivors and explore on whether they should be educated as a special target group. Material and method This was a crossectional study conducted over 2 months among Noma survivors and their caregivers. Information such as sociodemographics, duration of noma defect, school enrollment history, challenges faced and willingness to be enrolled in a noma special [...]   Read more

ABSTRACT: Background Baseline investigations can yield substantial information in understanding noma disease aetiopathogenesis and management. This study aimed to present the pattern of some basic haematological and biochemical parameters in patients with acute noma Materials and Method This retrospective study used five five-year records of patients managed with acute noma (March 2018–April 2023). Ethical approval was obtained and patients’ demographic information such as age and sex was extracted. The results of full blood count and its differentials electrolyte, urea, creatinine, retroviral status, and hepatitis B surface antigen were recorded. Data obtained were [...]   Read more

Antimicrobial and phytochemical screening of aerial parts of Solanum xanthocarpum

by Dipalee A Munjani, Jignasu P Mehta, Kuldip H Parmar, Dinesh R Godhani,

Journal of Biological Research and Reviews. 2024; 1 (3): 151-161 - https://dx.doi.org/10.5455/JBRR.20240725100739

ABSTRACT: Aim: - Phytochemical screening of Solanum xanthocarpum The current study attempted to investigate the potential benefits of Solanum xanthocarpum components that had been identified and extracted using six different solvents via the soxhlet technique. Method: - GC-MS and Conventional antioxidant methodology It also performed better than characteristic antioxidants in tests for thiyl-sulfur free radicals, ferric reducing power, nitric oxide radical scavenging, hydroxyl radical scavenging, and hydrogen peroxide radical scavenging. Results: - Antimicrobial screening Three Gram-positive bacteria, three Gram-negative bacteria, and three fungi were found to be more susceptible to antimicrobial treatments utilizing [...]   Read more

METHAMPHETAMINE-INDUCED DISSEMINATED INTRAVASCULAR COAGULOPATHY: A CASE REPORT.

by Obunmneme Kenechukwu Nwiyi, Sunday Onyemaechi Oriji, Ugochinyere Jane Chilaka, Chilota C Efobi, Justus Uchenna Onu, Richard Uwakwe

Journal of Medical Research and Reviews. 2024; 2 (4): 147-151 - https://dx.doi.org/10.5455/JMRR.20240820084350

ABSTRACT: Methamphetamine abuse continues to pose a significant public health concern globally, with numerous adverse effects on various body systems. Methamphetamine is a common drug of misuse in Nigeria. It is a derivative of amphetamine, an enantiomer of ephedrine with potent addictive and majorly central nervous system (CNS) stimulating property. We present a 30-year-old female with a history of chronic methamphetamine misuse who presented to the emergency department of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital (NAUTH), Nnewi, with symptoms consistent with disseminated intravascular coagulopathy (DIC). Despite intensive inpatient management, the patient's condition [...]   Read more

Serum ferritin level in children with normal hemoglobin and low MCV and MCH in a hospital in Iraq

by Thaer Hussein Ibrahim, Hailah Othman Habeeb,

Journal of Medical Research and Reviews. 2024; 2 (4): 138-146 - https://dx.doi.org/10.5455/JMRR.20240822080712

ABSTRACT: Background: Iron deficiency is common around the world, particularly in young people because of their elevated need for iron to grow and develop. Iron deficiency is demonstrated by low levels of serum ferritin. This research will investigate the level of serum ferritin in children with normal hemoglobin but low MCV and MCH, the purpose of this is to determine the degree to which subclinical iron deficiency is present and distinguish it from other causes of microcytosis. Method: 150 children with typical hemoglobin but low MCV and MCH were recruited recognizing [...]   Read more

Approximating Torus-Torus Intersection for Hollow Double Torus Generation under the Supervision of Persistent Homology

by Md. Morshed Bin Shiraj, Md. Safik Ullah, Tozam Hossain, Md. Mizanur Rahman, Md. Masum Murshed, Nasima Akhter,

European Journal of Scientific Research and Reviews. 2024; 1 (3): 165-181 - https://dx.doi.org/10.5455/EJSRR.20240725051644

ABSTRACT: Background: Visualization of complex mathematical surfaces, like the n-torus, is an open challenge. In this study, a double torus data generation process has been proposed using the deformation of a torus by a sphere. Methods: It is proved that a torus $T(R,r)$ can be deformed into a $3$-sphere $S^{3}(R+r)$ with the same center and it is the smallest ball to cover the torus $T(R,r)$. Then 3D and 4D torus data have been generated from their parametric equations. After that, the generated data have been compared with the known knowledge [...]   Read more
